Izunokuni City |
Izunokuni city is a traditional city with hot springs and histories, which is also known for its cultivation of western orchids and strawberries. Izunagaoka hot springs is one of the three oldest hot springs around the Izu region with more than 1,300 years of history and tradition. The hot spring water is drinkable and is known to cure skin troubles, muscle pains, neuralgia and gastroenteric troubles.
There are many historic sites in the area of Nirayama, such as Egawa Residence (National Important Cultural Asset) and Nirayama Reverberatory Furnace (National Historic Site) was established in the Edo period as a smelting furnace for shore butteries at Daiba in Tokyo to oppose against powerful western countries.
