  Izu City

Izu City is situated between the Suruga Bay and the middle part of Izu Peninsula. Adjacent to the ocean, the Toi Area is known for its magnificent views of sunset and the reflection of Mt. Fuji on the Suruga Bay. Amagi-Yugashima is well known in Japan for being a stage of Kawabata Yasunori’s famous novel, “The Dancing Girl of Izu.” It is a nature-rich area surrounded by mountains which have been loved by countless number of writers and painters. The area of Shuzenji has lots of historic sites such as the Shuzenji Temple and the Tokko-no-yu, being the best region for street strolling. Naka-Izu is known for the production of wasabi and shiitake mushroom, and it is the area with a vigorous green tourism business in agriculture, forestry and other natural resources. In Izu City, you can enjoy hot springs in various settings such as in the quiet remote town surrounded by mountains or near the open ocean.
